Route: Jakarta (CGK) to London Heathrow (LHR) vv., with transit at Singapore (SIN) and transfer at Amsterdam (AMS) on the outbound flight. Direct inbound flight.
Late dinner on the Jakarta-Singapore leg of GA 088 at 10pm Jakarta time. Bun. Fried rice and chicken with peanut sauce. Chiffon cake with custard sauce. Cut fruits. The other option was turmeric rice with beef, which I guesses wouldn’t be much different from a breakfast meal I’d once had on an early morning Garuda flight to Singapore. Mixing fried rice with peanut sauce is rather weird, but I liked it. In fact, I’ve done so myself once or twice. 🙂
I gotta say this was quite a big meal to eat in the dead of the night, around 3.20am Singapore time. The FA offered “pasta with meat” or “fried noodles with chicken.” The latter didn’t sound appetising at that time of day, so I asked for “pasta”, thinking it was going to be something like fusilli alla bolognese I had onboard another Garuda flight before. Well…almost right, just a different type of pasta. It turned out to be lasagne alla bolognese in addition to the usual bun, pudding with lemon custard, and cut fruits.
Three hours after the lasagna, came the early morning snack of tuna bun and a drink.
The next, and last, meal came about 2 hours before landing. The usual Garuda breakfast omelette menu. Croissant. Omelette-hash brown-chicken sausage-mushrooms-tomato. Cut fruits. Yogurt with a large chunk of strawberry inside. It wasn’t cheese omelette and not as good as that usually served on CGK-SIN route.
We only got snacks for the short, one-hour flight from Amsterdam to London. The flight was operated by KLM, which gave us this “cute” box for lunch. Inside were water, Dutch caramel biscuit, and wheat bread omelette sandwich.
Midnight meal onboard GA 087, a direct flight from London Heathrow to Jakarta. Wheat bun, cracker, salted butter, mild cheddar. Red cabbage salad. Chicken thigh in paprika sauce, fried potatoes. Vanilla mousse with strawberry and white chocolate. The main dish was served in plastic sealed container instead of the usual aluminum foil one.
Breakfast, London time. Lunch, Jakarta time. Croissant, butter, jam. Egg souffle with sundried tomato, tomatoes provençale, hash browns, mushroom, chicken sausage. Cut fruits. Yogurt. Orange juice. Again, the main dish was inside a plastic sealed container. I guessed this was the standard at Garuda’s London catering?
Snack box was served two hours before arriving in Jakarta. A pair of sweet and savoury snacks consisting of spinach & feta lattice pasty and chocolate sponge.
